We have had two set meetings so far for next years productions. I go along to get inspiration and start my research for next years collection.
The first for ‘Eugene Onegin’ by Tchaikovsky was in Rudolf Steiner House in north London. Based on Pushkin's novel of the same name. This is my favourite Opera from this period and having just finished Anna Kerenina I cant wait to get going with trying to create a piece that describes these human frailties and dilemmas.
The meeting for 'L’Italiana in Algeri' by Rossini was in the Jerwood foundation space in Bankside, the delight and humour in this Opera is for me revealed and supported by the rich colours in the textiles, the designer George Sourglides showed us the wonderful set model.
Lot’s of reading and research to be done and I will blog little snippets over the next few months to give you a glimpse of my working process.
